Yes giving up is often times looked down upon. It is as if you gave up so you lost, you are a loser and now you have nothing to stand for. While this perspective may be embraced as the truth in some circles I'd like to suggest losing may be all that it takes to find the beginning of that thing we were actually suppose to find. You see, losing is not something that is only material. Mostly "we" meaning humans see the world through human only lenses and thus a loss in the physical space becomes a failure. But what if I were to suggest that a loss can also be something that is immaterial but may also be experienced in a physical way. Then we would have something of a paradox immaterial/material. And so we begin the journey of exploring the many views which seem to contradict themselves yet manage to co-exist in the same space.
Furthermore, the more we often strive for that thing we think we truly want the further away from us that thing actually gets from our grasp. Just take a look at love. Even the married falls in and out of love all the time (at least the honest ones will say so) yet at the end of the day that love is chosen over and over again all throughout life to maintain its co-existing reality in a context called love. That said, sometimes we have to give up and let life win us over or that disappear our ego enough just so that we let go enough to experience truth. But not let go too much or we might mistake illusion for reality.
Bringing it all back to the present, lets just say by giving up we may be able to gain and thus when our glass is empty it may be filled. I'll try if you do, you know, empty out the tank, refill it with some radiant love and share it with the universe...yah, I think I'll have one of those!
